The George Hotel, Amesbury

"Dinner Bed and breakfast at the George Hotel, Amesbury "

Great refurbed room, modern feel with great extra touches, like coffee machine, digital radio, smart TV, modern bathroom with with touch lit mirror and heated towel rail.
Menu excited us, service was excellent e.g water given in a big carafe without us asking, crab bites, cougette fritters, fish cakes etc and South African white was goid, but we were let down by actual dishes e.g. soda bread we thought would come as plain crusty and tasty, instead it was pre-dipped in oil like fried bread. The asparagus choices had all the asparagus chopped up not as individual spears, probably to save money? Courgette starter we thought would be slices of courgette maybe in batter, not fried courgette mash balls? Everything was well presented but had too much oil added. No salad choice that we could see in the sides?
Breakfast mains were superb and we will probably come back as we had a great stay, close to all that Salisbury abd Stonehenge have to offer. Front of house staff were excellent.
