The George Hotel, Amesbury

"Disappointing "

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at The George which we enjoyed but feel the restaurant needs a little work. We dined on the Friday night which was a disaster. We waited for 25 minutes before our order was taken. We were in the restaurant for 45 minutes before we ate. We felt the food was not up to the standard we received at Forest park and The Pheasant. The waiting staff really need training - empty dishes are left on the table - wine bottles are just plonked on the table for you to pour! The service on the Sunday evening was better but there were no roasts or dauphinoise potatoes left at 7.30! We were relieved that we chose to eat at a local Italian restaurant for the Saturday night! We also had no recognition for our Wedding Anniversary which we have always had at your other hotels. Really disappointing.
