The George Hotel, Amesbury

"Sunday Lunch"

3 of us had a roast on Sunday. We were told the roast of the day was 'Chicken supreme, with red wine stuffing and dauphinoise potatoes'
My husband ordered this and when it came it was a regular roast chicken served on the bone with roast potatoes.
We did query this to be told, yes that is the roast of the day???
All 3 roasts were barely warm with the strangest floppy soggy veg, mangetout, leeks, shredded greens and sprouting broccoli, but we all agreed the carrot's were the best.
All 3 of us had to use the bathrooms at some point and unfortunately fora recently refurbished hotel they were a let down, smelly and dirty, NOT a great advertisement!
We've visited since the refurb a couple of times only this time to be completely disappointed
Very mediocre and a let down after recommending quite a few local people to the Hotel I no longer feel confident in doing so.
I'd think twice about visiting again sadly
