The George Hotel, Amesbury

"Ok, but lots of room for improvement"

Maybe it was coincidence but we got room 209, at the far end of the hotel.
Now, when you are travelling on a motorbike, one has to wear protective gear. This was well mentioned when booking this overnight stay as I always ask if a secure parking place for my motorbike is available. This protective gear motorcoat, helmet, gloves, rain gear..., not always easy to carry
So, when you then get to have room 209, second floor, through extremely narrow corridors, with lots of uneven steps to overcome, one may get the feeling of being not very welcome...
Especially when we arrived, only half an hour before the estimated (!) mentioned check-in time, we got the rather unfriendly answer "Check -in is not possible for the next half an hour... Welcoming???? Not really...
Dinner was ok, no problem there.
Breakfast however, was really not good!
There was a young member of staff who brought our codffe and milk, while I was waiting for my toast . Clearly sh had spilled a considerable amount of milk on the table, but did not clean this. Even after my polite question to clean this, she pretended not to hear my request, although the spilled milk was CLEARLY visible on the table.
I then stood up and went to the counter where I took a kitchen towel and cleaned it up myself.
Service, dedication???? NOT existing....
