"For people who get down and join their dogs for dinner"

Imagine sitting overlooking the famous Blakeney marshes from the bar of the Blakeney Manor Hotel, preparing to tuck into your monkfish and samphire dinner, when you hear the sound of a dog slurping its food noisily at the next table for a full five minutes. Gross. I nearly left the room. I get that the hotel is targeting people with dogs who come to the area, and boy has this become a country of clueless dog owners who have no idea - and, more to the point, a nation of selfish ‘why shouldn’t I, and why should I show consideration towards anyone else - but this hotel should be more honest about its target clientele. Its ‘relaxed’ approach to canine inclusion is mixed, incongruously, with an officious vibe in all things non-canine. Customer service is best described as pinched, unfriendly and sometimes rude. There was one exception that I encountered among the staff; the rest ranging from bewildered to downright hostile. Constant elevator music (too loud) in the bar, and a ‘superior’ room that felt more like a converted garage next to a road. Check in here at your peril.
