"Nice setting, roast needs work"
A beautifully kept place, clean, tidy and full of history. We visited on a Sunday with our dog who was very welcome which was nice. We had a roast, I had the turkey which was cooked to perfection and my husband had turkey and beef mixed. The beef was as tough as old boots which was a shame. There was a nice selection of veg with the meal but the roast potatoes were chewy, why don’t professional chefs ever fluff their potatoes? It’s basic potato cooking knowledge, boil them, fluff them, then drop them in hot fat and baste baste baste, I’ll show you if you like! All in all we had an ok meal, nothing to rave about but certainly not disgusting just ok. I don’t think we’d ever go out of our way for a roast here again we’ve had better. Staff were absolutely lovely though and very friendly.
