"Food excellent, Staff helpful, Management need to get control of their operating procedures"

We were all very excited to visit the Jamaica Inn for Sunday Lunch on the bank holiday weekend.
Whilst the food was absolutely fantastic, plentiful and well presented. The excellent staff are hampered by the managements serving processes that are beyond belief. The poor gentlemen behind the bar, who was fantastic throughout, was having to deal with a queue of people, who were blocking the restaurant access, as that was the only place to queue, whilst serving drinks, taking food orders, the purchase of tickets for the museum and giving general directions to giftshop, toilets etc. Once you had queued for your drinks and been assigned a table you then had to requeue to order food. Some people even having to go back to the bar again to order further drinks during the meal etc. This made the whole process even longer. We were not offered a dessert menu, which would have meant queueing again.

We queued again to gain tickets to the museum and the bar staff that served us even escorted us to the start of the venue explaining what and where to go, leaving the others in the queue to be astounded that the only bar attendant was leaving.
The museum was well worth a visit - an access to the gift shop after your visit would have been much more profitable for the establishment as you needed to go back through the bar and through the large queues to a different area for the gift shop. This we decided was not worth the effort. Two members of our party decided not to visit the museum and went to the bar for a drink instead. However queueing again was then told there are no seats inside to just have a beverage. Especially as you only have a time allocation at your table so once you have completed your dining experience there is nowhere to have a drink after inside except the 4 barstools which then blocked everyone queueing.
Whilst I understand this was a bank holiday and the establishment may have been short staffed at the bar there were numerous waiting staff which I am sure could have assisted at the bar to keep the queues to a minimum. Perhaps even a staff member on the door to advise the processes in place. Or even just a sign on the bar.
