The Jamaica Inn, Bolventor

"We will not be returning."

Everything leading up to our arrival at the Restaurant was excellent. We had a family visit in November 2023 for a family group of around 15 which was excellent. However, on the 12th June, Father's Day from the moment we took our place at the table the experience was awful. We wanted a drink just while we waited for the rest of the party of 7 to arrive so my Wife & wanted to have a drink. I had to join an enormous queue as only two persons were taking drink/food orders. Some people had huge food and drink orders. Anyway, when we did order it took over 40 minutes to come, and when it did the food was cold. Two of our party were queuing for drinks to accompany their meal so there's was even colder. My beef, what there was of it, was a 1/3 gristle. My Son actually almost choked on his gristle. My Granddaughter ordered a turkey bap, with crackling & stuffing. It came without either, when this was raised with the waitress we were told there was no crackling. A bowl of cold stuffing was subsequently provided, but left uneaten. The bill for the 7 of us was in excess of 3120, we would have spent more but were not prepared to queue again to get drinks. When there is an event such as Father's Day, surely you know it is going to be busy. There was clearly not enough staff to cope and the food was neither of sufficient quality nor prepared/presented correctly. None of us will be returning.
