The Jamaica Inn, Bolventor

"Disappointing "

We have been to the Jamaica Inn many times, but usually on a Sunday which we have always enjoyed, however this was a birthday celebration night out and unfortunately it failed on several points.
After being shown to our seats we were left for some considerable time, so much so that we thought we must have to go to the bar to order so that's what we did. They told us it was tableservice so we went back and waited and waited. Eventually the orders were taken, disappointingly for me I was not able to change the rice that was served with my meal for chips as I am really not fond of rice and being a vegetarian there are limited options (which I expect, there's not nearly as many vegetarians as there are carnivores).
Eventually the meals were bought, however the children should have had a starter before the main course and I had to ask for that to be brought to accompany their main meal.
One of the party chose the pie of the day which was served without the jug of gravy.
Another the party chose the curry after asking if it was quite spicy as they do like spicy food and if it was going to be bland they would choose something else, they were told it had quite a kick so it was ordered, but certainly failed to excite.
After being told I couldn't swap my rice for chips I asked if I could just have a small amount of rice as I really didn't care for it, but I think I was served enough for three people! After finishing our meals eventually they came and took away the plates from the adults and left the children's plates. After a while we asked the waitress to remove the plates and requested the children's desserts.

All in all it was a sadly disappointing experience.
