The Crown Hotel, Boroughbridge

"Good place for a one night stop over "

For a 3 star hotel it was nice. Good sized rooms and great big bed. Bar service was good but restaurant service was poor. Long time to take our order and a long time for it to be served. ( Dinner ) Fish dish was described more of a fish stew but was actually a very dry fish pie ( very little fish/ sauce) which was served with 2 pieces of bread with nothing to dip them into. My main course was sliced lamb and potatoes. Roast potatoes were nearly solid and the lamb was gristly. Actually the starters were good. ( whitebait / ham tureen ) Reception was quick and efficient both in checking in and checking out. Just a little more attention to detail and service and the hotel would be worth another star. Breakfast was again slow to take our order and slow to be served. My wife’s sausage sandwich was 2 slices of bread with no butter and sliced up sausages. ( would be better as a sausage bap). My breakfast looked as though it had 1 egg which had been scrambled ( full English breakfast) sausages were good. We would book again but not for dinner unfortunately. This place could be really good if some simple improvements were made.
