"So disappointing "

My family came over from Canada so I booked a table in the special glass walled room. We only see each other every 2 or 3 years so it was a big occasion.

The Maitre D welcomed us warmly and was so friendly and kind. I noted to my father how good she was and that this was very promising. Unfortunately things went downhill from there.

1. Drinks order was not taken promptly
2. Food took ages to arrive and did not arrive together. Some was cold by the time it all arrived. Some of the table started eating whilst others were waiting.
3. Basic condiments were not offered.
4. We placed an order for a second round of drinks but they didn't arrive. My father got up to speak to the waitress but they still didnt arrive. I got up to speak to the waitress- she apologised because she had forgotten the order and promised it would arrive soon. One beer arrived on a tray first. Then a jug of water. Then nothing. In the end my father went to the bar and picked up the waiting tray of remaining drinks himself and carried it to the table.
5. Plates were not cleared.
6. Desserts were not offered.
7. The mains, when they arrived, were ok but my mother's plaice was small and thin. The prices are high.
8. A high chair was brought for a 7m baby which was without straps and completely unsafe.

I spoke to the maitre D and negotiated a 30% discount which left us with £165 to pay for 8 people. This was better than the original £228 bill but still left a bad taste.

Overall we were so disappointed. What should have been a warm happy occasion was muted because of the poor service and lack of drinks and conviviality.

I'm so sorry this happend. What a waste and what a shame for Boston.
