"Awful food, polite staff"

Was looking forward to my visit after reading the positive reviews. Only offered a limited evening menu as there had been a Father’s Day special menu that day. I wish I had been informed of this in advance, several menu items from the limited choice were unavailable, roast lamb ok, Yorkshire pud like old leather , everything Luke warm at best. My friend opted for steak and ale pie, pastry was fine but the contents appeared to be l sliced up bits of leftover beef ( presumably left from the remains of the unavailable beef roast) the meat was tough and overcooked, how can anyone get a pie so wrong !
Deserts, bread and butter pudding was stodgy but at least it was hot. The Eaton mess sundae was disappointing. There were only 2 other couples dining at the time so it wasn’t exactly pressured in the kitchen.Young waiting staff were polite and respectful and offered a complimentary coffee and tea.
Altogether a poor experience for the price, I’ve had much better at a Harvester.
