"Very disappointing Easter Sunday lunch "

I booked Easter Sunday lunch in the restaurant of the Castle for my son and I and was really looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the whole experience was very disappointing. On making the booking, I had specifically requested to be in the restaurant, but was placed in the adjacent room, where there were no other diners and we did not even have a tablecloth. The dining room was not full, so there was no obvious reason for us to be seated where we were. Service was incredibly slow - we waited for 10 minutes in the presence of 3 staff members (all of whom ignored us) before being shown to our table. We then waited a further 10 minutes before being offered a drink. Our meals when they arrived were tiny - only one roast potato on one of our meals, both of which were served on plates more suited for side dishes/starters. To charge £17.95 for a child size portion is an insult. To give credit where it’s due, the Yorkshire puddings were very good, but the rest of our beef dinners were very ordinary and in embarrassingly small portions. I emailed the hotel after my visit to express my disappointment, but have not received so much as an acknowledgment. All in all, a very disappointing meal.
