The Castle of Brecon Hotel, Brecon

"Beautiful views, tired rooms"

The hotel is set on a hill and has some amazing views. The outdoor space is well maintained and pretty. The building itself is lovely but feels a bit tired in places. Our room in the main building faced out across the garden and towards the hills which was lovely. There were a few issues with the room such as plaster peeling from the wall on window reveal, threadbare/split carpet near the very tired looking, sunken sofa, the tv was hanging at an odd angle from the wall bracket and could not be corrected, one of the windows was not openable as there were cracked panes of glass and one section of the frame was hanging off. The bathroom was clean and functional and the shower/hair products were great. We booked dog friendly dining but there was nowhere set up for the booking and breakfast aloneon one of the days was a problem as dogs re not allowed in the dining room. A very kind member of the breakfast staff brought me some tea and toast .
