The Castle of Brecon Hotel, Brecon

"Phenomenal food!"

I was treated to a meal here as a surprise. My family and I have never been before but have always wanted to visit whenever we’ve visited Brecon. After a recommendation by a friend to my Husband he booked it as a surprise for my birthday.
The venue is gorgeous, well maintained, clean and tidy. We saw the terrace as we were shown our table with the lovely views. Our table had a fantastic view of the famous Brecon mountains with Pen Y Fan front and centre as it was such a clear sunny day. Along with the gorgeous country garden foliage of the outside areas of the hotel.
Our waiter was very professional and courteous, nothing was too much bother. I ordered the braised lamb, my husband ordered the cheese and bacon burger and we ordered two meals from the children’s menu for our children (12 & 7). The children’s meals were a very good portion size, cooked perfectly, both thoroughly enjoyed their orders. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his burger the meat was very tender and juicy. My lamb was exquisite, perfectly cooked, the pesto stuffing was a tasty surprise as that wasn’t a combination I am used to but I’m glad to have experienced it. The accompanying mash and vegetables were also perfectly seasoned and well cooked. I was sad when it was over and could have eaten it all over again.
We all ordered a dessert with my husband and I both ordering the Crème Brûlée, which was beautiful. The perfect custard with its signature sugar crust and accompanying shortbread. The perfect end to a perfect meal. Huge compliments to the chef. Thanks to the staff for making it a great occasion.
