The Castle of Brecon Hotel, Brecon

"Nice venue, dining experience poor"

Monday dinner. First time for a long time coming to the Castle, as expected, a nice dining room with lovely views of the Beacons; also friendly staff. However, half the choices for the main course were 'off' despite the dining room not being busy and it was only just after 7pm. Evidently ' there had not been a delivery after the weekend' and ' it's all prepared fresh'. There is a large Morrisons 5 min walk away but evidently this was not thought an option. We were thinking of going eslewhere as the remaining choice was not really what we wanted but decided to stay. Served 'fat chips' not the thin+ skin chips ordered. No big deal but clearly, again, hotel convenience topped customer satisfaction...' prepared fresh....only if the bag of chips has been delivered. Decided not to stop for pudding of coffee to avoid further disapointment.
