The Forest Park Country Hotel & Inn, Brockenhurst

"Lacklustre service, food barely ok, desserts a distaster"

Weeknight dining - pretty full restaurant but plenty of staff on. Took over an hour for three main courses. Two of us ordered fish and chips - very greasy but ate it as by now very hungry. Asked for water and it never appeared. Ordered dessert. Coffees arrived quickly. After 30 minutes we were last table left in the restaurant and staff were busy setting up breakfast. We had to go over to the entrance to enquire about our dessert. Waiter went to kitchen but didn't give us update. Got up and asked again. Told we had already had it?! Invited him to check on our table - certainly had not been served as no empty dishes. Waiter went to check. Didn't come back. Went to the desk to ask about it a third time, multiple waiting staff got involved, questioned about what we had ordered and again told we must have had it. If this difficult told them to forget about it as it had now been 45 minutes and could they bring the bill. Manager arrived to tell us he was sorry but the chef was now preparing dessert. Some issue with the ticket printer in the kitchen. We informed him we had cancelled dessert already and that we were very disappointed. We did not get charged for our desserts and we got a discount but the whole thing was appaling. It spoilt the evening. Won't be going back!!
