"Food service needs to get organised"

We booked a table in the Tinpickle and Rhum pub (or is it restaurant). On entry a sign said 'please wait to be seated' but no-one paid attention. Going to the bar a waitress was trying to seat another customer and couldn't find our booking - some excuse was offered about the system mixing up dates. We were seated with menus but it took time for someone to take the drinks order. The restaurant appeared to be closed for a private function and hotel guests sent to Tinpickle and Rhum also appeared to wait for service. A table was not cleared promptly or fully after guests left. We had to summon a member of staff to take our food order but she then returned twice 1) to confirm how a steak should be cooked 2) to say one dish was now off. The food when it arrived was good and more staff appeared later to support service. But it was all like an average pub (with several dogs and spilt water bowls on the floor) instead of a relaxed option of the hotel dining experience (we had visited before to eat in the restaurant)
