"Birthday meal"

I booked the conservatory area for my birthday meal. The Moorland Hotel are treating you on your birthday to a free main meal and dessert, as long as you bring photo ID with you.

I had expected to get the usual menu which is available in the Rhum and Tinpickle area. We were given the restaurant menu, which is fine for a ‘Fine’ dining experience, but not always the choice of my fellow diners, who would have preferred fish and chips from the usual menu.

We weren’t aware that we could have asked for the other menu until another table asked for a second menu. By this time we’d already ordered from the ‘fine dining’ menu. I know they want to make as much money as they can from the more expensive menu, but surely it’s better to have diners in, eating what they would prefer.

I had to ask for the bill. No one came back later to check on us, once we’d had our coffee.

The ‘fine’ menu is overpriced especially when you get less portions. Compare the oven baked cod loin to normal fish and chips.
