"Disappointing"

I booked the table for 4 for 7.45pm on line, very easy and straightforward.
We live close by and have eaten at The Tinpickle & Rhum many times. On this occasion we brought friends who are on holiday from New Zealand.
We arrived on the dot of 7.45pm and were shown to our table. At that time we were told that the Pie of the Day was venison and bacon (I think). We then waited for half an hour before one of the waitresses came to take our drinks - and by that time - food order. The drinks, which including 2 bottles of wine, arrived shortly afterwards but I had to ask for two of the glasses to be dried (presumably they had just been washed).
One of my friends was keen to try the venison pie but we were advised that the last portion had been sold.
We had 3 starters (OK but not over exciting) and 4 main courses. 1 fish and chips ,1 minute steak and 2 bream. The portions of bream were distinctly on the small side and were served on a bed of risotto, described by both who chose it as bland and uninteresting.
The waitresses who looked after us were polite and pleasant but didn't appear to be completely in tune with what was going on.
To summarise, overall it was a disappointing experience. I very rarely feel moved to provide feedback on a restaurant meal. On the basis of our experience last evening I will not be recommending The Tinpickle and Rhum to other friends for the time being and it will probably be a while before my partner and I return. What a shame!
