The Moorland Country Hotel & Inn, Haytor

"INADEQUATE"

The waiting staff were extremely poorly trained and had no sense of urgency. We waited half an hour before anyone took our order, and were told that there would be a delay with our food because of a large party who had booked the room adjacent. Waiters passed our table studiously ignoring us, to attend to the larger group. The area where we were was not busy with only two other tables occupied. I had to go to the bar myself to check the drinks order had gone through as we had waited so long just for a drink. There was no sense of service or urgency, due to the lack of training. When puddings finally arrived there were no spoons, so after waiting a while I went to the cutlery drawer myself to get them. I telephoned the Moorland in advance to say that a 90yr old member of our party would be coming in a wheel chair (table 38) but there was no provision for this when we arrived and had to re-arrange the furniture at our table ourselves. There were also bits of crisp on the floor under our table from previous occupants.
