" Good, but not exceptional"

Party of 4 who know good food, cooked well, presented well and interesting rather than ordinary.
Our meals were good, but not exceptional. For my meal: The flavour of the carpaccio of beef was masked by the salt and sour of the capers and cornichon. The fish was thin and so the risotto was the stronger taste. The berry dessert was spoiled by the chantilly fluff. All good food, but just below excellent.
Service was good, but “Shiraz, that’s red, isn’t it?” was a question we didn’t expect.
Will we return? Yes, in a few years time. There’s a lot of choice in this area.
