The Moorland Country Hotel & Inn, Haytor

"Poor service on both occasions"

In the last month, we’ve visited the Moorland for breakfast twice. The first time was with a large group & more recently just 4 of us. On both occasions the service has been incredibly poor, errors with our orders, having to ask for things multiple times (simple things with breakfast eg. Having to ask for sauces, butter. By the time the sauce came out after asking 4x times we had almost finished our breakfast), long delays with food. When we visited most recently as a group of 4, there was only 2x other tables in when we ordered & they had already received their food however our order still took over 1hr 15mins just for 4x breakfasts (& they got the order wrong). It meant our breakfast turned into lunch by the time it was received. When orders came out wrong, there was no initiative to rectify it, just a ‘are you ok to have this’. As we had to wait so long for the food, we just accepted it as we didn’t want to have to wait even longer. The food itself is really nice & the location is great especially if you want to walk around Haytor plus the restaurant is dog friendly. The staff are friendly but I feel they need more training on table service. We won’t be rushing back as the service & delays really let’s itself down.
