The Feathers Hotel, Eatery and Coffee House, Helmsley

"Afternoon tea ok "

We have visited The Feathers previously for afternoon tea , which has always been excellent , but todays experience was slightly under whelming. There was nothing wrong with it but it was quite ordinary compared with previous visits. We were shown to our table by a very pleasant member of staff who took our drinks order and our food and drink arrive promptly. Sadly that was the last we saw of any staff and no one approached us to see if everything was ok or if we required a top up of tea/ coffee, We did have to go and find someone when we wanted to pay our bill. The sandwiches were fine although it was difficult tok now what was what until tasting them. Nice scone with cream but only 1small pot of jam between us. Cakes ok but a little uninspiring and the banana cake/ loaf was very dry.
