"Lovely lunch but massively over priced"

Can I start by saying I usually love The Feathers, it’s food great and the service is alway brilliant. But this time was a little different.

I took my son and two of his friends (all 14) for lunch to celebrate his birthday - we booked well in advance because I know how booked up it gets on a Sunday.

When we arrived we were told we could only choose from a limited set menu- which was £32 for two courses and £ 38 for 3 courses which was not what I expected for a lunch time menu. The food was lovely - the main courses especially so (the desserts were quite average) however our bill for my son’s birthday lunch was nearly £200! We only had soft drinks lunch and a pudding! We were not expecting this and having arrived for a birthday lunch with 3 hungry teens in toe we couldn’t exactly walk out when we found out the only option that day was an expensive set menu. The venue was told ahead of time we were booking for my child’s birthday lunch
