The Old Bridge Hotel, Holmfirth

"Extremely disappointing "

I decided to book for breakfast at the Old Bridge for father's day for 4.

Really disappointed with the place it really hasn't changed unfortunately, a shame as I thought it may have improved.

Sat down and ordered 2 smashed eggs with egg (on toast) and 2 full englishes. (The staff member very unfriendly and not approachable).

The smashed eggs on toast came and how disappointing. It was absolutely tiny and more like rye bread/ cracker definitely not sourdough, could literally snap it in half. The eggs were rock solid and cold not poached/runny.

We mentioned it to the staff and he just said 'what's wrong with them'. On asking for them to be done another member said it would be 20 minutes as other people were now ahead. (Yet it was very quiet not many in either).
I decided to refund instead of sit and wait / eat separately and the refund was £21 for two poached eggs on a cracker with some avocado x 2.. honestly gobsmacked. Even had to add an extra egg as it only came with one egg for £9.45!

I never ever mind paying if the food and service if it is worth it as I work in a customer facing role myself.

He didn't say a word just refunded only when I took my card out did he mumble 'ok many apologies'.. no so sorry or proper conversation.
Me and my mum had to sit and wait for what only can be described as a bang average full English (also hard eggs)to be eaten by my Dad and partner.
My Dad had also asked for his not to have black pudding just swap it for bacon which they told us was fine.. when they came they took the black pudding off my partners as well.
My Dad also had a full cup of beans and my partner had half a cup.

The customer service and quality of food was honestly the worst we've had in a very long time.

We even heard them turn walk in customers away when the place was so quiet.

It was meant to be a lovely father's day breakfast as I work out of the country most of the time and don't usually get to be home for father's day/occasions and I am really saddened and disappointed by the experience.
Something really needs to change with this place. I may add that when I paid I never even got offered a receipt.
