The Talbot Country House Hotel, Malton

"Lovely venue, service needs improving"

This really is a lovely hotel and our meals were tasty (Steak Fries, Talbot Burger and Steak Pie). Most of the staff are lovely (the girl who served out food was a bit sullen) but the problem seems to be there just are not enough of them. We sat the bar prior to our reservation in the restaurant and the barman was clearly overwhelmed across the busy lunch period. I have been here many times over the years and the slow service is every present. After around 40 minutes are meals came except the Steak Fries which arrived around 10 mins after - no explanation was given until we had to go and seek out a member of staff. Disappointing as otherwise the Talbot deserves 4 or 5 stars.
