"Wonderful "

I Booked a table online at 15:30 for four people at 16:30 on 22/12. The booking process was really simple and I received instant confirmation to my phone.

We arrived at the Talbot and entered through the bar. We were given directions to the restaurant reception where we were warmly greeted.

Our waiter (I didn’t get him name) was fantastic, efficient, without being intrusive with a genuine warmth about him.

We ordered a light early dinner, three adult portions (2x Stonebass and 1 fishcakes) and a Children’s starter and Main. We asked for our son’s two courses to arrive together as he’s a fan of grazing. He was served a medley of carrot and cucumber with dip and Chicken goujons, fries and beans. He loved it all, the only slight niggle being the seasoning on the goujon breadcrumbs- just a little peppery for our 5 year old.

My fishcakes were really tasty, served with a well dressed green salad and some skin on fries.

The Stonebass was truly delicious, crisp pancetta, succulent fish and crunchy potatoes served with lobster bisque. The mouthful I pinched from my husband was an absolute treat!

We finished with great coffee, little mince pies and a scoop of ice cream for our son (and grandad!)

A truly great dinner- one which we booked spontaneously, that has given us a reason to return.
