The Talbot Country House Hotel, Malton

"Lovely old hotel."

We only came for lunch in the bar to meet some friends on a rather miserable Sunday in January.
The venue was excellent, we booked a table in the bar area. To get there we passed the restaurant and lounge areas, all three lovely, well decorated comfortable spaces, with plenty of space and oozing the atmosphere of a country house hotel.
We didn't want a large Sunday Roast meal, which all of us struggle to eat in the middle of the day, however there were other options on the menu, so I plumped for the small fish and chips, which was more than enough for me.
It would have been nice to have a couple of other small meal options for the older client or maybe a sandwich option, but it was Sunday. Anyway it was well presented, tasty and well cooked. We all enjoyed our meals and if it had been later in the day I might have fitted a pudding in.
The service was excellent and the waiting staff, friendly and polite.
The wine was on the expensive side but it was delicious.
All in all we really enjoyed our visit in a nice relaxing atmosphere. We will definitely visit again.
