"Staff could do better"

Room very spacious, clean and tidy.
Hotel clean and lovely decor.
Good choice of food and it was superbly cooked.
I like to feel like I'm welcome in a hotel, the best ones are like a home from home and this was lacking here.
The lounge, bar and reception area were more often than not lacking any staff. There were long waits for staff to appear and they often avoided eye contact or any form of greeting. Some staff urgently need training in customer service, one young lady in the bar area made a strange comment to me when I asked for drinks for in the lounge, after I'd struggled to locate any staff, she then ignored me several times later for subsequent drinks and I even got a smirk as she walked past ignoring me standing at the bar.
Before going to my room, after stopping a member of staff who was intent on walking straight past me, to ask for fresh milk i was directed back to reception, where there was....no staff, but
was very surprised to find bank notes and cash on the desk in full view on an empty reception desk, with no staff in sight.
