The Talbot Country House Hotel, Malton

"Lovely place, great service, below par food. "

I’d been looking forward to trying the Talbot for some time. We arrived and the building and setting were as lovely as you would imagine. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient. However, the food was somewhat disappointing. I had the watercress houmous which was underseasoned. The onion bhaji burger I had for the main course was borderline inedible and could have been used as a doorstop. The chips were rock solid as if old and reheated. My partner declared his food ok but also underseasoned and a bit dry. I am giving three purely on setting and service. They just need to sort the chef out.
