"Steak good, pudding not so much"

The steaks were very good and perfectly cooked.
The Frangipane tart was a slice rather than a tart. It had a pastry base which was thick and chewy. The rest of the ‘slice’ was in two distinct layers. The uppermost layer was moist, tasty and as expected. The lower layer just above the pastry was dry, overcooked or just ‘old’. I managed around half of my dessert. My wife around an eighth. When the waitress came to collect the plates we told her that the pudding was ‘not Chef’s finest hour’ and that was clearly why so little had been eaten. There was no response and no offer to remove at the very least one of the portions off the bill. No offer of an alternative either. More or less a shrug of the shoulders.
Talbot Restaurant needs to do better. You were let down by the dessert and that’s a shame.
