The Talbot Country House Hotel, Malton

"Underwhelming food"

We are staying at the hotel and booked dinner for our first night. While we love the hotel and room, dinner left much to be desired. It was edible, but our food was underseasoned (or overseasoned in some cases!) and the sauces just didn't taste very nice. The pastry lid on the pie didn't resemble any pastry we have ever tried. Didn't even consider pudding or drinks afterwards given how the other two courses went so went into town for drinks / pudd. When the final bill came it was a bit of a sting given the quality.

However, hats off to the staff as they were attentive and very friendly and absolutely no criticism of them.

We hope we caught the kitchen on a bad day and that this isn't the normal scenario. We absolutely love the hotel otherwise.
