The Talbot Country House Hotel, Malton

"disappointing"

We recently visited The Talbot for a celebratory meal, expecting something special, but unfortunately, the experience was quite underwhelming. The food wasn’t served hot, and the only vegetarian gluten-free option on the menu didn’t come as described. Instead of the flatbread that was supposed to be part of the dish, I was given a bowl of broccoli and kale, which was incredibly tough and unpleasant to eat.

To add to the disappointment, there were no gluten-free dessert options. When the waitress asked if we’d like to see the dessert menu, she wasn’t even sure if a gluten-free option existed, which felt a bit disorganised. We chose The Talbot because it’s known to be dog-friendly, but no one offered our dog a bowl of water, which was a simple touch we expected.

While the staff were friendly and welcoming when we arrived and left, the overall experience didn’t meet our expectations for what was meant to be a special meal. Sadly, we won’t be rushing back.
