The Wynnstay Hotel, Oswestry

"Beautiful comfortable hotel, great staff, perfectly situated."

This hotel has been beautifully refurbished to a very high standard. The rooms are lovely and the dining room/bar area is a joy to be in.
Food in the restaurant was well cooked and very tasty although it's very much more pub food than fine dining. There needs to be more consistency, over six days the cocktails from the bar were very variable and I'm nit sure the barman knew what he was doing.
One thing I missed was a resident's lounge as only a couple of chairs in the bar were really comfortable and there were no board games to pass the time.
Our room was fairly small with only one armchair to sit in so watching TV sitting on a bed was uncomfortable.
A big complaint when sitting in the lovely outside area was the piped music which was to no-ones taste and even Shazam found it unidentifiable. The secure car park is a great positive. Unfortunately removal of the swimming pool was a retrograde step and would have been very useful during our six day stay.
Overall a lovely hotel which could be improved in the above areas.
