"Unable to tip extra to the service charge"

Excellent meal though roasties could have been crisper. Lovely bit of sirpoin.Charming and efficient waiting staff.
Card machine could not cope with adding extra tip and we don't carry cash - could this be addressed as not fair to the staff?
