The Talbot Hotel Eatery & Coffee House, Oundle

"A very pleasant experience in every respect"

The dining room is cool and airy, the seating well spaced. Staff were helpful and efficient.The menu looked a little sparse to begin with but in reality the trout starter was excellent and the pie of the day and sausage and mash good. My steak was a little on the dry side and could have benefited with some sauce. I don't personally like chips in the form of potatoe wedges with the skins left on. Desserts were less good than expected. The sticky toffee pudding. like most offered in restaurants these days was just a square of cake with some sauce added, the tiramisu choux buns were too large and oddly shaped, like giant Yorkshire puddings. A nice * birthday platter* was an excellent final touch
