The Talbot Hotel Eatery & Coffee House, Oundle

"Excellent evening meal, but the breakfast service needs a little tweak "
We enjoyed a lovely evening meal here and with staying at the hotel we were looking forward to breakfast. This started well, though we felt there was room for improvement on the cereals/pastries side, with the latter being represented by just two lonely-looking pastries.
There perhaps could have been a few more gluten free options made available too.
None-the-less we were soon going to be enjoying a hearty full English, so nothing to worry about, or so we thought... However our ordered food did not arrive until nearly 10:50am, which was a bit much after ordering it at 9:30am.
No one checked back with us as the room got ever more empty, the staff seem more concerned with clearing, so I had to pipe up and raise our concerns over its absence
An apology ensued as the order had apparently been lost. When it did arrive it was nice, though we noted that oyster mushrooms had now been substituted instead of standard mushrooms
Knowing that at this stage we were expected to check out at 11:00am it meant us hurrying our meals to try and achieve this.
Overall the Hotel is lovely and the room was equally as lovely. It was only at breakfast where it went a little off-beat. We certainly would recommend a stay here and we were appreciative of the owners care in respect to its history, being especially fond of this ourselves.
