The Kings Head Hotel, Richmond

"Food lovely, but other things left a sour taste."

We booked for Sunday lunch, it transpired it was Mother's Day, so on arrival we were presented with a 'Mother's Day' menu 2 courses for just on £27 or 3 courses for £32 so we had to ask if we could just have one course...the answer was yes, so that was fine.
We then came to pay to be told 'oh we've added a 10% service charge, but I can remove this if you want'.so yes please remove, all fine.
We where given cash as a Christmas gift to use and thought we'd keep it to use for our little holiday break in Richmond only to be told 'we don't take cash'! I pointed out that no one had told us this when we sat down and asked what would happen if we only had cash and no card....I did not get an answer, just pointed to a sign on the counter that said 'we are cashless', however we were seated from the door and the order taken at the table so at no point could we have seen the sign.
It is very dictatorial to remove the choice of using cash or card
It spoiled the whole experience, we came here the last time we visited Richmond and have told everyone how good it was. We will not recommend anymore.
