"Not a great experience "

We looked forward to visiting after reading so many positive reviews but must have caught the hotel on a bad day. Unfortunately, there was no parking close by with a fair in town and my husband has a foot injury, so we asked if we could park in the hotel car park, which had two cars in it, and the answer was no.
Lunch, to be fair, tasted excellent, but it arrived after a fifty minute wait with no apology and no explanation. My meal had the wrong sides, and we were offered a change, but this would have taken even longer. No one checked if everything was okay during the meal and it wasn’t busy in the restaurant. Good thing we didn’t need another drink! We couldn’t stay for a dessert because our car park was short stay, so I can’t comment on these. Just a brief explanation or apology would have meant so much and we would have waited patiently.
We’ve stayed in many wonderful coaching inns in this chain but, unfortunately, we won’t be returning to this one. Maybe they were short-staffed but we didn’t get the chance to be sympathetic. Not a great experience after looking forward to it all week.
