"Sunday lunch to support a friend on the first anniversary of the loss of her husband"
On arriving at The White Horse in Romsey for Sunday lunch we were immediately aware of the number of people the staff were trying to accommodate at one time. Although you book a 2 hour slot staff seemed overwhelmed. As well as a full restaurant people were eating lunches in a completely full bar and to add more pressure on them there was an event happening in the other large section just outside the main building. We watched staff taking trays of food into this building. So not only did they have to try their best to accommodate everyone in the restaurant and bar there was the added pressure of the function going on as well.
Our roast dinner was far below what we were expecting. We had to ask three times for part of our drinks order. My husband and I had the pork which was very undercooked. The waitress offered to replace it but quite honestly I couldn’t face eating anything else.
Overall we were very disappointed in the quality of food. Felt sorry for the staff who did their best. Loved the ambiance of the restaurant but would have to think carefully about a return visit.
