The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell

"Mixed experience"

Pros - excellent main courses
- good local beers on tap including
Jaipur by Thornbridge
- good cheese board

Cons - we didn't have the full attention of
waiting staff who seemed distracted
and uncoordinated - told pie of the
day was fish pie which was actually
a meat pie
- the puddings were mediocre and
over-priced (£9) - the Bakewell
pudding (which unfortunately 3 of us
had) was a sickly sweet inauthentic
mush in puff pastry with a dribble of
custard and defrosted mixed fruit
