The Rutland Arms Hotel, Bakewell

"Lovely hotel but could have done better"

This hotel is lovely. Bakewell is lovely! We appreciated the nice touches in the bedroom: fan, lovely toiletries and comfortable bed.
However, although the restaurant is also lovely, the Sunday evening menu was very restrictive, and the service was truly shocking (not the fault of staff but management) and the food was mediocre. We were a party of 4, two had the chicken, one had the beef and one the pork. We waited 30 minutes with the dessert menu and nobody came to take our order, after trying in vain to attract someone's attention. The bill however, came immediately almost as if it had already been printed. If we had been told that it was a restricted Sunday menu when we booked we would have had the choice to go elsewhere.
Would we go again? Probably but not on a Sunday.
