"Disappointed "
We went for a special occasion, my wife’s birthday and my daughter’s 21st. We had booked a table of 10 for Sunday lunch. We were asked to leave a deposit, no problem at all, we also was asked to pre order, again no issues however they said they would send the menu 1 week before, however never arrived, I chased them, they sent it, however soup of the day, pie of the day and chefs roast, doesn’t really explain what they are. So I had to ring and ask again, 30 minutes later I got an email changing the chefs roast from Ham to Pork. We were also asked to pre order the puddings, however they never sent the menu, again had to chase ! When we arrived, the table was ready, however full of menus?? Which were taken away almost straight away as they realised we had pre ordered. The speed of service was good, meals all came out together however when they asked if we wanted any sauces, we asked for cranberry for the chicken, they had none, asked for bread sauce , again none, was offered mint or apple, not really suitable for chicken! The food was good, hot and tasty. We ordered a second round of drinks,as we were not asked by the waitress ,I called the waitress over, she tried to do it from memory, however 2 drinks were missed off, had to ask twice where they were, then when they arrive had to wait for the ones that were missing. No one came and asked us if we wanted tea or coffee, can’t believe that pubs these days don’t try to upsell, glad they don’t work for me! We thought we may have been offered more drinks or to move into the lounge , but again nothing. It could have been so much a better experience . When pubs add 10% service charge and say it can be taken off, always makes the customer feel uncomfortable in my opinion. Shame really as it could have been so much more , such a nice place.
