"Food and setting let down by lack of service "

The pub looks appealing from the road and so we gave it a try. The three main courses we had between us were ok but could have been better. And my original choice of the pie of the day was gone by 7pm in a not very busy pub. I tried the liver which was good albeit a small portion. The burger was just a bit basic. And somehow the entire pub had no ketchup when one of us asked for it with their fries. No obvious shortage of staff but service was hit and miss. And you have to order everything at the bar. Drinks expensive with a small bottle of mineral water, a small draught Diet Coke and a pint of draught cider coming in at over £12. Icing on the cake was an automatically applied 10% service charge when the only thing that we didn’t do was to bring the food to the table and take away the plates.
