The King William IV Country Pub & Hotel, Sedgeford

"A disappointing experience."

We were looking forward to our meal, having been to this pub a few times before. We noticed that it had changed hands, being part of a chain of pubs. The inside of the pub has been done up very tastefully. However, we weren’t particularly pleased with our visit. It was a while before we were greeted, in fact we were ignored for a while by the barmaid/waitress. She was preparing some drinks but could have said hello and also that she would be with us shortly. After being shown to our table it was some time before our drinks order was taken (it wasn’t busy) and a menu actually given to us. Once we had ordered our meal, it was ages before our food arrived. In fact it was nearly an hour after being shown to our table before our meal arrived. My meal was actually very nice but my husband obviously chose the wrong thing (crab tagliatelle). We then shared a dessert - cheese and biscuits which included some grapes. Unfortunately most of the grapes were inedible, being very squishy and bordering on being mouldy. The head waitress did ask if our afters were ok and I said no, because of the grapes. She duly brought us some more grapes but they were just the same and one was mouldy! Overall we felt the meal was overpriced (drinks included) and it spoilt what had been an enjoyable day. We have previously stayed and eaten at the pub but this was our worst experience.
