"Disappointingly long lunch...if only you'd have explained we'd have been more appreciative of what was happening and why"

The meal and venue were really good but what was booked as a 2 hours window for lunch took nearly 3 hours when the restaurant was not busy with drinks and courses taking excessively long to be served. We had one gluten intolerant diner in our party (whom we had advised on the booking) and after a very promising start with gluten free options explained in detail we went on to order and overall enjoy a normal dining experience (apart from the duration) , when we finally finished and queried the length of time (especially starter being nearly an hour), this was excused as being down to the kitchen ensuring gluten cross contamination procedures, if this is the case someone needs to clarify and highlight this could be an issue (luckily we had no set timescales but even so a 3 hour lunch sitting!). Finally having ordered two 'crumble' dishes as dessert (x1 GF) another 10 minute wait resulted in 'sorry no crumble mix...and another 10 minute delay to order and receive alternative choices. ..disappointing on a Saturday lunchtime!
