"Lovely food when it eventually came"

Chose the Swan as it was for a celebratory meal and wanted something a little more special. We decided against a starter and ordered the main (lamb and hanging kebab), the staff, polite and efficient. An hour and a half later I had to ask if we had been forgotten. The waitress imediately responded that something had been mislaid and went to the kitchen. The Manager came out, promptly apologised, explained and food followed shortly. The food was delicious, but did not have time for desert/coffee.
The bill was discounted without question and handled well. My point is the staff knew there was an issue but said nothing. If they had come over earlier and kept us in the loop we would have understood. Absolurely hate complaining it makes me anxious, but we were beyond hungry.
