"Nice afternoon tea for the money but service was slow and restaurant untidy."

The food was nice and we had a lovely time however the staff were not very attentive, we had to get up and ask for things every time we needed something despite trying to get walking by staff members attention on numerous occasions. We could see the same was happening for other diners and they too followed suit and left their table to go and speak to staff instead. The food was nice on the whole but the scones were dry and felt slightly stale.
The tables were sticky so we didn’t want to touch them and when other people left it took a long time for staff to clear the tables.
We were seated promptly however it took at least 15 minutes to get a drink and from being seated it must have been about 40 minutes until our afternoon tea came out - I would understand if it was hot food but it was just a few sandwiches and cakes to be put onto a stand.
We did have a nice time but I feel it could have been even better if staff were more attentive and the restaurant was tidier.
