The Swan Hotel, Stafford

"Very disappointing - 15/07/23"

Having previously enjoyed eating at the Swan we decided to celebrate our anniversary there, unfortunately we were extremely let down on this occasion!
The tables are uncomfortably sticky and when raised we were told this is the cleaner reacting with the polish, ok, that I understand but when skin and clothes are sticking to the tables, I would suggest doing something different in order to clean the tables?
Looking forward to the ordered appetiser, only to be let down once more as 2 out of the 4 measly prices of chicken were verging on being inedibly burnt but had been conveniently placed burnt side down!
On to the mains, my partners pie contained no more than 4 pieces of chicken and had a soggy bottom, as for my braised beef - well, I was expecting a melt in the mouth, fall off the bone extravaganza only to be met with what can only be described as a dry, hack from the bone experience - not enjoyable in the slightest. Whilst feeding all of this back, we were met with some kind of uneasy humour as we were informed he would go and slap the chef round the face for us??? Very random, and whilst we appreciated the one pint being removed from the bill as means of compensation, (almost acknowledging how poor it had been but not doing anything about it) to still pay nearly £80 for meal was painful, and unfortunately we won’t be returning anytime soon!!!
